THE LIVING BUILDING

2010
A VERTICAL GARDEN FOR THE LIVING BUILDING

What a brave plan. A building made from pallet racks in the southern Indian city Bangalore. Even braver: to make it self sustainable.

For the Jaaga community I designed and constructed a low budget vertical garden for the living building. Together with gardener Eve Sibley and Artist Allison Kudla as well as 2 indian design students we created the plan for garden panels that were able to be swivelled 360 degree.

When you turned the garden to the inside of the building, on the outside appeared a mural done by Walker Babington, showing different bird species flying to the top right, forming the head of Freddy Mercury. Our spiritual partner in crime for the project.
